Who we are
Outside is a group travel planning app operated by Techsauces Inc, based in Georgia, United States. This policy covers the Outside app, this website, and support communications. Questions about personal information can be sent through our privacy contact.
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, account identifier, sign-in details, verification status, and account preferences. Optional profile details can include a phone number, birthday, gender, mailing address, biography, and profile photo.
- Trip and group content: trip names, destinations, dates, traveler invitations and roles, itinerary activities, polls and votes, tasks, messages, and accommodation or transportation details you enter.
- Expense records: amounts, currencies, payers, shares, balances, and settlement notes or references. Outside records expenses and payments made elsewhere; it does not process payments.
- Device and service information: notification tokens, app/device information, and connection or security logs needed to deliver and protect the service. Website infrastructure may process IP addresses, browser information, requested URLs, and timestamps.
- Support communications: the information and attachments you choose to send when asking for help.
If another traveler invites you, we may receive your email address and invitation details before you create an account. Only invite people you have a legitimate reason to contact, and avoid adding unnecessary personal or sensitive information to shared trips.
How information is used
Information is used to create and secure accounts, verify sign-in and account actions, organize trips, share content with the appropriate travelers, synchronize changes, deliver requested notifications, respond to support and privacy requests, investigate misuse, and maintain service reliability.
Optional information is used for the feature you choose. Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing may be necessary to provide the service you request, comply with legal obligations, protect legitimate security and operational interests, or follow your consent for optional processing.
Permissions and optional features
You choose whether to allow notifications and location access in iOS Settings. Location access supports map features while you use them. The app does not request continuous background location access. Destinations and coordinates you add to trips are part of the shared trip record.
Profile photos are selected through the system photo picker. Choosing a photo does not give Outside unrestricted access to your photo library. You can change or remove optional profile details in the app.
Analytics, diagnostics, and website storage
For v1, launch monitoring uses Apple App Analytics, TestFlight feedback, and Apple crash/diagnostic reporting. Availability depends on Apple's services, privacy thresholds, and applicable device settings. No additional product analytics, advertising, or session-replay SDK is included for this purpose.
This static website does not add analytics scripts, advertising trackers, a mailing-list form, or application cookies/local storage. Hostinger or Cloudflare may process request logs and use security mechanisms required by their configuration. Email links open your email application rather than storing a form submission on this website.
Retention and account deletion
Account and trip information is retained while needed to provide the service. You can initiate account deletion in the app under Profile > Account Security > Delete Account; removing the app from your device does not delete your server account.
The current deletion flow disables account access, removes sign-in sessions and linked social identities, removes or replaces account/profile details, and de-identifies traveler references. It does not currently remove every shared trip record, message, expense, or historical display name. Those records may remain available to other travelers. Delete personal content using the available controls before deleting your account, or contact us about remaining personal information.
Backups, security logs, and information subject to a legal retention obligation can follow different retention periods. Specific retention periods and any remaining data associated with a deletion request can be requested through our privacy contact. See Account deletion for the current process.
Security and international processing
We use access controls and security measures designed to protect personal information, but no service can guarantee absolute security. Shared trip messages are not represented as end-to-end encrypted. Service providers may process information outside your country. Applicable transfer safeguards and local rights depend on the location and circumstances of processing.
Your choices and rights
You can edit available profile fields, manage notification/location permissions, stop using an optional sign-in provider, and request account deletion. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of, restrict, or object to processing of personal information, withdraw consent, or complain to a data-protection authority.
Contact our privacy contact to exercise a right or ask about data associated with you. We may need reasonable information to verify your identity. Do not send passwords, verification codes, or payment-card details.
Children and young people
Outside is not designed for use by children who are below the age at which they may use the service under applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information without the necessary permission, contact our privacy contact so the situation can be reviewed.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Where required, material changes will be communicated separately. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to our privacy contact.
